st mungo's hospital founded in late 1500s or early 1600s by mungo Bonham, st. mungo's hospital is the primary wizarding hospital in britain. located in an abandoned department store in london, the hospital's healers treat wizards for all sorts of magic-related illnesses and injuries and in extreme circumstances has been known to treat muggles as well. the hospital's logo is a wand and a bone, crossed and donations are welcome.

diagon alley tapping just the right brick in the wall behind the leaky cauldron in london will reveal an archway which is a portal into diagon alley, a long cobbled street where is to be found a strange and exciting assortment of shops and restaurants. it is unquestionably the hub of commerce in the british wizarding world, with virtually every wizarding business stationed there. consequently, the demand for space here is steep, and rent costs loads of galleons.

knockturn alley just around the corner from diagon Alley lies a dark, twisting alleyway devoted to the dark arts: knockturn alley. it's a place that most children are not allowed in, and with good reason; not only are the wares sold their a bit dodgy, but the wizards hanging around behave fairly suspiciously as well. from the shops and the street vendors one can purchase, among other things, shrunken heads, poisonous candles, human-looking fingernails, and flesh-eating slug repellent.

azkaban fortress far out in the icy waters of the north sea lies a tiny island that is home to one of the most terrible places on earth, azkaban, the wizarding prison. prisoners have been for years guarded by dementors, creatures who have been described as sightless soul-sucking fiends. they feed on positive emotions, therefore after spending much time in the prison, the prisoners lose all hope and all good feelings and thoughts. they are forced to relive the darkest, most horrible memories of their lives. some go mad, others simply despair and die.

the frank flats owned by the same muggle-born witch who owns and operates the frank apartments in the wizarding world, the frank flats are a similar set of housing, except out in the muggle world. they're a hodgepodge of apartments, and were any architects to look at the building plans, they would see that somethings afoot. unlike most muggle apartments, these are supported by magic. luckily, nobody's ever asked.

hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry hogwarts castle is a wondrous, magical building with many towers and turrets. it is home to hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. if muggles approach the castle, all they will see is a mouldering ruin with a sign warning them to keep out, that it's unsafe. hogwarts is built in a forested area, directly next to a fairly large lake, in the highlands of scotland.

beauxbatons academy of magic beauxbatons is located in southern france, along the mediterranean. the majority of students and the staff speak French, and seem to enjoy food from that specific region, such as bouillabaisse. they are certainly accustomed to warmer weather than what they encounter at hogwarts. beauxbatons uniforms are made of light blue silk, and the school coat of arms is two golden wands crossed over one another, each shooting three stars.

durmstrang institute durmstrang was founded over seven hundred years ago. in the centuries since, it has developed a reputation for an intolerance of muggle-borns and an emphasis on the dark arts. it is unplottable and hidden from muggles and wizards from rival institutions, but durmstrang is in northeastern europe. the weather at durmstrang is cold, and the days in winter are very short, while in summer they're very long. the castle is near lakes and mountains, which the students enjoy during warmer months.

it's getting closer and closer to the end of the year, and pretty soon it'll be winter. but for now, enjoy the slightly warmer weather of the english fall. appreciate the falling golden leaves, and pray that it doesn't rain- nothing is worse than soggy dead leaves clinging to everything. now is the perfect time to get all your present shopping done! enjoy the sales, and remember to bundle up when you go out.
